A set of twelve earthenware plates from the Ye Olde English Customs series produced by Burgess & Leigh for the American importer Fondeville. (circa 1930s–1950s) Each plate features a unique polychrome transfer-printed scene with hand-enameled accents depicting seventeenth-century English life. The undersides exhibit factory marks for Burgess & Leigh and the importer, including a descriptive scroll backstamp and the traditional beehive mark.Diameter: 6 inches. Overall heavy crazing and scattered brown staining to the glaze. One plate titled The Bowling Green has a notable chip on the lower rim.
