Original 1868 State of Georgia judicial commission appointing John D. Pope as Judge of the Superior Courts of the Coweta Circuit for an eight-year term. Commission dated August 20, 1868, during the Reconstruction era. Issued under Rufus B. Bullock, Georgia’s first Republican governor, with David G. Cotting, Georgia’s first Republican Secretary of State.
