Unique selection of a framed piece of art, perfect for any collector or home display. The selection is entitled “Silver Flute” and it was painted by artist Alex Khomsky. A mixture of oil and silver leaf on canvas, the painting displays a woman in a violet hat and dress playing the flute amongst some flowers. Clean textured contrast can been seen on the surface as this is a direct painting on canvas and not a print. This painting is a noted part of Khomsky’s “Beautiful Ladies” series that focused upon using metallic leaf within his work. Alexander (Alex) Khomsky (b. 1954) is a contemporary Russian American painter born in Moscow. He is globally recognized for his highly stylized, figurative oil paintings that seamlessly fuse classical European technique with realism and Art Nouveau. Growing up in a Communist Russian state, state-sanctioned Socialist Realism was the mandatory standard. Therefore, Khomsky desired more creative expression which ultimately led to his immigration to the United States in 1990. Khomsky relies heavily on multilayer glazing, applying paper-thin coasts of oil paint atop one another to trap light and give his canvas a glowing, luminous effect. He frequently incorporates genuine gold or silver leafing to create a three-dimensional surface. His work often highlights elegant women, music, or unique dreamscapes. This direct piece is in great condition with little to no visible wear. Picture is set in a stylish silver frame with the overall piece measuring 25.5” H x 21.5” W.
