Dating to World War II, this German medical field flag is constructed from off-white cotton fabric featuring a centered red cotton Geneva cross sewn to the field. The upper corner is ink-stamped with stylized GD initials, while the upper hem is stamped Feldlazarett "GD" for the field hospital unit of the Grossdeutschland Division. Olive cloth ties are attached to the upper corners for suspension. It measures 44 x 30 inches. A desirable elite unit-marked medical field artifact, ideal for World War II German Army and Medical Corps displays. The Red Cross symbol was used by medical units for identification under the Geneva Convention. This artifact provides physical evidence of German military medical organization and field deployment.
