This antique auction lot features a vintage wooden Holmes style stereoscope viewer paired with an assortment of sixteen historical stereoview cards. The hand held wooden viewer features a curved hood structure with a folding turned wood handle, dual viewing lenses, and a sliding metal wire card holder mounted on a central wooden track. The accompanying stereoview cards showcase a variety of photographic and illustrated scenes, including regional landscapes, nature views, and historical sites such as Yellowstone Park, Niagara Falls, Mount Washington Railroad, and scenic mountain ranges. The collection includes cards from notable publishers like Underwood and Underwood and Webster and Albee, featuring a mix of monochrome, tinted, and full color lithograph styles. As an authentic antique grouping, the items display expected signs of age and handling. The stereoscope viewer shows light scuffs, minor scratches on the wood finish, and slight wear along the curved hood perimeter. The paper stereoview cards exhibit typical edge wear, slightly rounded or bumped corners, minor surface smudging, and natural yellowing or foxing on the reverse sides.
