This auction features a prestigious collection of rare antiquities and historical documents curated by former Harrisburg Pennsylvania Mayor Stephen R Reed. The lot highlights an authentic ancient Roman copper coin circa 200 AD excavated in Israel during the 1980s accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity dated 1993. Also included is an incredibly rare 17th century printed leaf from the Votes of the House of Commons dated January 13 1691 printed in London by the Royal Printer alongside its corresponding signed certificate of authenticity dated 1996. The collection is rounded out by a 34th Congress US House of Representatives executive document message from President Franklin Pierce regarding China Consular Judicial Powers dated December 12 1556 and a personalized signed holiday card from Mayor Stephen R Reed addressed to Greg King. Visible damages include typical heavy oxidation and encrustation on the ancient copper coin severe paper toning and foxing on the edges of the 1691 House of Commons leaf light handling creases on the certificates and protective sleeves and mild corner bending across the paper ephemera items.
