This auction lot features two rare early nineteenth century religious books printed in Pennsylvania for local German-speaking communities. The first volume is an eighteen hundred and eight edition of a Mennonite hymnal titled Ein Unpartheyisches Gesang-Buch published in Lancaster by Georg and Peter Albrecht, featuring a worn dark binding and delicate weathered pages. The second volume is a Stuttgart edition of Johann Friedrich Stark's daily handbook and prayer book printed by John Kraus in Pennsylvania, which retains its original brown leather binding with brass hardware accents and an illustrated frontispiece portrait. Both antiquarian pieces display significant age-related wear, foxing, and historical character, making them a unique addition for collectors of early American regional printing and religious history.
