8-pound metal can for Crystal Flake Shortening, manufactured by Hodgson Oil Refining Co. of Athens, GA. Made from hardened vegetable oil, the can features vibrant multicolor graphics with promotional text including 'Sweet as a Nut' and 'Pure as Snow.' Includes a metal lid and original wire handle. Displays surface wear and light scratches consistent with age.
