This collection contains four 1939 issues of the German air defense magazine Die Sirene (The Siren), published in Berlin by the Reichsluftschutzbund. Each issue measures 15 by 11 inches and features full-color wraps highlighting pre-WWII civil defense, military training, and propaganda themes. Issue 1 from early January 1939 shows a nurse holding a triangular bandage with So wird's gemacht! (That's how it's done!). Issue 3 from early February 1939 features bamboo scaffolding artwork signed "BERKHOLZ" titled Bambus gegen Bomben? (Bamboo against bombs?). Issue 4 from late February 1939 displays paratroopers practicing indoor jumps with Fertig zum Absprung! (Ready to jump!). Issue 24 from late November 1939 depicts technical relief workers clearing rubble titled Kamerad TN. (Comrade TN.). Condition shows spine wear, edge tears, and taped corner repairs.
