ca. mid-late 19th century; English type oval trinket box with lid single brass butt hinge. The box has a fine "quilted-grained" rosewood veneer body & top. The lid has a fine inset "floral basket" cartouche crafted with mixed hardwood veneers on a satinwood ground. The cartouche has hand painted accents, and lid is banded with satin wood. The box has original lock, bone-ivory "diamond" pattern escutcheon. Interior is wallpaper lined & retains original mahogany secondary lid w/ bone-ivory knob; 6" x 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"H.; Condition: good condition, only small wear noted to low edge at one spot. Retains original surface.
