Signed Vintage Hand Made J. Robert Monteith Youngtown AZ South West Coral, Turquoise, Onyx and Mother of Pearl Inlay Handle Knife. Some Info From the Internet: Mr Monteith sold his knives roadside in Arizona. I met him back in the 80s. The handle is not made of silver. Mr Monteith melted down old pot metal (aluminum) to make his knives. The sheath is made from pig leather that he tanned himself. He put a lot of love and pride into his work. He was in his 70s back when I met him. He was retired and he made the knives to supplement his income. He was a really sweet and soft spoken man. I remember he was tall and his hair was as white as snow. The stones are real, usually turquoise, coral, onyx, and opal. I purchased a few knives from Mr Monteith back in the 80s for as little as $7 and upwards to $15 on an old road between Coolidge and Casa Grande Arizona. Whenever I saw him I would stop and chat and make a purchase. The knives were just a souvenir of the stories he would tell. I kept one for myself and it is one of my prized possessions and a beautiful remembrance of that old man selling pot metal knives on an old Arizona highway.
