One of my favorite items in this sale is this excellent machine, invented as a more efficient way to "candle eggs". Patented Nov. 15, 1898. Wood box in the original red paint. A metal hood and tray with a lever that raises and lowers a bar to "pop" the eggs back up and bars on the side that lower the metal box. Two oil lamps on a burner that floats, similar to a ship, so you can move the light closer to the eggs. Two adjustable wood brackets on the sides lower and tilt the box towards the oil lamps. A mirror on the back end reflects the light. The original paper label is on the front. Made by the Waddel W.W. Works in Greenfield, Ohio. Provenance: The collection of Russell and Darlene Snyder. 17 1/2"H x 14 1/2"W x 21"D Very good with light wear to paint.
