2011 1 Oz Somali African Wildlife Elephant Silver Coin containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, struck by the Bavarian State Mint in Germany. Part of the popular African Wildlife Elephant series, these coins feature a different elephant design each year, giving individual dates added collector appeal. The 2011 reverse features a mother elephant and her calf crossing the African savanna, with the calf holding onto its mother’s trunk. The obverse displays the Somali Republic coat of arms, the 2011 date, and a 100 Shillings denomination. The coin measures approximately 39mm and contains 1 full troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The 2011 issue had a reported mintage of approximately 170,000 pieces, adding collectible interest to its silver bullion value.
