Japanese Invasion Money (JIM), officially known as Southern Development Bank Notes, was a fiat military scrip issued by the Japanese Military Authority during World War II. As the Japanese Empire expanded across the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, it confiscated local hard currencies and replaced them with these pre-printed occupation banknotes to maintain economic control and implement the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere".
