The 1836 Canada Trade Token—most commonly known as the Bank of Montreal "Bouquet Sou"—is a historic piece of emergency merchant coinage issued in Lower Canada (modern-day Quebec). These copper and bronze tokens were minted to address severe shortages of small-denomination official currency during the pre-Confederation era.
