Group of two antique painted boxes found in Western Pennsylvania. Small pine, square nailed document box with a reddish brown base paint, dark brown paint along the edges and lock simulating brass reinforcements, and a 3-mast sailing ship flying several pennants. Paint appears to be early-20th century. The second box is an early dovetailed pine box that was repurposed as a tool box with the owners' names nicely painted on the front and top. 1930s handle, hasp and hinges added for strength. Sailing ship, 7 1/2"H x 18 3/4"W x 9 1/2"D Age and use-related wear to both.
