1883 Liberty Nickel "No Cents" Variety Graded as Brilliant Uncirculated. Liberty Nickels were minted in the United States from 1883 to 1912. All were minted by the Philadelphia mint. The first run of the 1883 Nickels were designed without “Cents” and just had a large “V” Some of the coins were later Gold Plated and passed as $5 Gold Coins, known as a Racketeer coin. In 1912 San Francisco and Denver also struck a limited amount. The key dates are: 1885, 1886 and the 1912-S. Note: A few (Only 5 known) were struck in 1913.
