The large carved and painted wooden spirit or ancestor figure is from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea. It depicts a masked figure with a large headdress with an animal pediment, The figure is holding what appears to be a crocodile which protrudes from between the figure's legs. The item has painted decorations, earring style dangling threads, and a couple of horns or claws representing the figure's nose piercing. It measures 47 1/2" tall, 13" wide, and 13 1/2" deep. There are some cracks, scratches, scuffs, and stains on the piece. Otherwise, it is in overall good condition. Third Party Freight Shipping is Required.
