Turkish Ankara Arsenal Model 1936 8mm

Updated August 24, 2026

Lot 7503 highlights a rugged Turkish Ankara Arsenal Model 1936 bolt-action military rifle chambered in the powerful 8mm Mauser (8x57mm) cartridge. This military surplus arm features an expansive 29.5-inch barrel with a clean, shiny bore, providing an exceptional sight radius downrange. The heavy-duty steel receiver frame is mounted into a traditional full-length hardwood stock with a contoured wrist grip that offers a solid, steady hold. Offered in good overall condition, the rifle exhibits normal military handling wear and light visible surface rust consistent with authentic service use. The Model 1936 was produced as part of Turkey's major military modernization initiative during the interwar era, converting classic Mauser patterns into standardized military service rifles. Rich with 20th-century history, this Mauser derivative is an exciting find for military surplus collectors. The bolt action feeds smoothly and operates accordingly. Please see photos.
