Oil on canvas, framed. Attributed to Pablo Picasso (1881–1973). Depicting a seated figure with exaggerated facial features, angular contours, and a stylized blue dress and hat, holding an open book against a warm background of red-orange geometric planes, the composition reflects Picasso’s mature post-Cubist language, characterized by bold linear structure, compressed space, and expressive chromatic contrast. Signed Picasso ’29.9.60 at the top right. Label on verso of Marlborough Fine Art. 80 x 60.9 cm (31.5" x 24"), framed: 102.8 x 81.2 cm (40.5" x 32"). Comparable seated-figure compositions with distorted anatomy, graphic modeling, and planar backdrops appear in major institutional collections, including the Musée Picasso, the Museo Reina Sofía, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art.
