The animals are rendered with expressive black and gray brushwork, capturing different poses and a sense of movement. Accompanied by an extensive calligraphic inscription and red artist's seal. The inscription includes the traditional expression "Fu Zhong Zhi Yuan," referring to bearing a heavy burden over a long distance and symbolizing endurance, perseverance, and the ability to shoulder responsibility. Mounted as a hanging scroll with silver-tone patterned silk brocade borders. Condition consistent with age with overall toning, scattered staining and spotting, visible vertical and horizontal creases, and wear to the paper and mounting. 60" x 10".
