German beer stein made by Simon Peter Gerz I (G.m.b.H.), circa 1890s, the designs including a man with a pipe and a stein, lettered "Munchhausen"; a man with a pipe, lettered "Stillvergnuct"; and a panel lettered "Guter Muth Gesundes Blut" (Good Courage, Healthy Blood), blue and gray stoneware with an unusual addition of brown to the lid, which has a pewter ring and thumblift, the base with the company mark of a stein in a triangle / 257 / Germany, holds .5L, 8 1/2" high, excellent condition.
