Framed. Carl William Peters was a prominent American landscape painter associated with the Rockport art colony and the Rochester art community. A student of John Fabian Carlson, he became widely recognized for his masterful winter scenes and his ability to capture the specific light and atmosphere of the New England and Upstate New York countryside. His prolific career earned him numerous awards, including several from the National Academy of Design, solidifying his reputation as a premier American Impressionist.
