Set of eight matching signed Hawkes cut-crystal stemmed goblets, each measuring approximately 5¾ inches high. The bowls feature elaborate geometric cutting composed of hobstars, crosshatched diamonds, deep intersecting miters and radiating fan motifs. Additional cutting decorates the faceted stems and starburst feet. Each piece bears the faint acid-etched Hawkes signature on the underside of the foot; its location is indicated by the pencil point in the accompanying photograph. T.G. Hawkes & Company of Corning, New York, was one of America’s leading luxury cut-glass manufacturers and produced hundreds of patterns. Corning Museum’s Hawkes history (https://blog.cmog.org/2013/tg-hawkes-co-corning-cut-glass-tradition?utm_source=chatgpt.com) The exact pattern has not been determined. The glasses appear to date from the early decades of the 20th century and display the heavy, deeply cut workmanship associated with American Brilliant Period and post-Brilliant Period Hawkes crystal.
