Manufactured in 1970—the second full production year of the MKIII series—this early-run piece features the distinctive "J" suffix or prefix format introduced to overhaul Colt’s manufacturing standards and comply with modern serialization laws. This generation marked the first major advancement in Colt’s revolver engineering since the early 1900s, utilizing a highly advanced transfer-bar lockwork safety system and a transition to corrosion-resistant coil springs rather than vintage flat springs. Often regarded as the rugged, practical cousin to the premium Python, it is built with an integrated solid top rib, a robust shroud protecting the ejection rod, a smooth face trigger, and a heavy barrel contour. The firearm operates reliably in both heavy double-action and exceptionally crisp single-action profiles. It is preserved in very good condition. Please see the photos.
