And when a car is this special, it's nice to see that they took the time to invest in the paint, interior, and details to make it an all-around stunner. The trim tag says this was born a Bolero Red coupe, which is always a desirable color. It only gets better with a proper respray that makes sure it continues to have a deep gloss in the sunshine. And the straight body panels help give the paint an excellent canvas. All the brightwork from the chrome bumpers to rocker trim looks good so that it can shine on the same level as the paint. Of course, it also has the underlying intimidation factor with aggressive touches such as the darker SS grille, blackout rear panel, SS badges, and hood vent trim. It really loves to have an authentic and clean Super Sport style, right down to the ribbed rockers and rally wheels. When you open the doors, you're greeted with a well-done factory correct black interior. You can tell there was an investment in quality by the condition of the door panels, dash, headliner, and more. You get all the best classic driving features, like bucket seats, a center console in-between, and the grippy SS steering wheel. Plus, there are well-placed upgrades, like the tach on the steering column and auxiliary gauges mounted below the center dash. And speaking of well-integrated upgrades, there are a few that makes this a better cruiser without intruding on the vintage/authentic feeling. This includes the tinted glass and a retro-style AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth so that you can always choose your favorite driving music. This car is a true 138-code SS 396. So when you look in the engine bay, this Chevelle is filled with big block power. The original numbers-matching 396 cubic-inch V8 has a terrific stock style presentation with the bold orange block, GM hoses, and an air grabber with callouts. The mighty motor fires up readily as it inhales deeply from a Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority as the dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers make that sweet big block rumble. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is also believed to be original, and it has a stout but smooth operation as it feeds the 12-bolt rear end. And there are other good driving features like power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a rear sway bar.
