Vintage M.L. Ramsdell Painting "Tin Can Tourist". This Vintage M.L. Ramsdell Painting "Tin Can Tourist" is in good condition as pictured. Unframed. It measures 20" by 24". Signed in lower left corner (hard to see). Also includes the Pittsfield Art Exhibition Label on the back which shows the artist and the title of the paiting. Mary Louise Ramsdell, a painter and art administrator, was born on February 13, 1883 in Housatonic, Massachusetts. She studied art at the University of California, at Smith College B.A., at the Art Students League, at the Grand Central School of Art, in Vienna, and with Wayman Adams, George Luks, Jerry Farnsworth, and others. She was a member of the Allied Artists of America, the Audubon Association, the National Association of Women Artists, the Pen and Brush Club, the National Arts Club, the Berkshire Art Association, the Pittsfield Art League, and the Springfield Art League. Ramsdell exhibited at the Grand Central School of Art 1930, at the Ringling School of Art 1931, at the St. Petersburg Art Club 1936-1937 (prizes), at the National Academy of Design 1941, 1943, at the National Association of Women Artists, at the Allied Artists of America 1941-1946, at Portraits Inc. 1942, at the National Arts Club 1943-1946, at the Pittsfield Art League 1934-1946, at the Berkshire Museum of Art 1942 (solo), at the Pen and Brush Club 1941, 1943, 1944 (solo), 1951 (prize), 1954 (prize), at the New Jersey Pallet & Sculpture Club 1948, at the Albany Institute of History & Art 1955 (prize), and at the Academie Arts 1954 (prize). She held a position on the Board of Directors for the Berkshire Art Association from 1953 till her death. Mary Louise Ramsdell died in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in Nov, 1970.See pictures for complete condition and description.
