Wilhelm Stekel's landmark psychoanalytic work, Sadism and Masochism: The Psychology of Hatred and Cruelty, explores the deep-seated psychological interconnectedness of pleasure, pain, and human aggression. Volume 1 details Stekel's core clinical theories, positioning sadomasochism as a unified behavioral complex rooted in severe emotional conflicts, identity fractures, and repressed trauma. Volume 2 features 64 detailed case histories analyzing extreme behavioral manifestations like fetishism, mutilation, and destructive psychosexual impulses.
