As I prepare to enter my junior year of high school, I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in livestock projects that help me develop responsibility, leadership, and valuable life skills. I am also proud to serve as the Gridley FFA Chapter Reporter, a position that has further developed my communication and leadership skills. This year, I had the opportunity to raise my very first market hog, Bits, as part of my FFA project. Raising Bits has been a new and rewarding experience that has helped me learn more about animal care, nutrition, health, showmanship, and proper animal management. Throughout this project, I dedicated countless hours to feeding, caring for, training, and monitoring Bits. Watching Bits grow and seeing the progress we made together has taught me the importance of patience, consistency, hard work, and commitment. Through my four years of involvement in livestock projects, I have continued to expand my knowledge and confidence in agriculture. Raising Bits has given me new experiences and challenges that have helped me grow not only as an FFA member, but also as a student and leader. I plan to attend college after high school, and the lessons I learn through FFA and livestock projects are helping prepare me for my future. The support I receive from community members and local businesses plays a major role in making these opportunities possible. I would like to invite you to attend the Butte County Fair Livestock Auction on Saturday, August 29th, at the Butte County Fairgrounds. Your support at the auction would help fund my future livestock projects while allowing me to continue gaining valuable agricultural experience through FFA.
