1981 Finland 50 Pennia Copper-Nickel Coin KM48 1981 Finland 50 Pennia Copper-Nickel Coin KM#48 This 1981 Finland 50 Pennia coin is a sharp uncirculated example of the KM#48 series, featuring a distinctive copper-nickel composition. The obverse displays the crowned heraldic lion of Finland above the date, surrounded by the legend SUOMEN TASAVALTA. The reverse showcases the denomination 50 PENNIA alongside a stylized conifer tree branch, a design by Peippo Uotila that reflects the natural heritage of the nation. Struck at the Vantaa Mint, this specimen carries the S mint mark for mint director Heikki Suominen. It remains in excellent condition with crisp details and original luster, housed in a protective 2x2 cardboard flip with handwritten identification. 1981 Finland 50 Pennia Copper-Nickel Coin KM# 48 Finnish Lion Condition: The coin appears to be in Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated condition, retaining strong details on the Finnish Lion's mane and the spruce branch on the reverse. There is some light surface oxidation and minor handling marks consistent with its age. The strike type is a standard business strike issued by the Mint of Finland (Vantaa). The metal content is copper-nickel, consisting of 75% copper and 25% nickel. Historically, this design was part of the second markka-denominated series used in Finland before the adoption of the Euro. It features the national heraldic lion on the obverse and a spruce branch over the denomination on the reverse, symbolizing Finland's vast forestry industry.
