Keith Chafin Mandeville, LA 5" long Inspired by the Louisiana cane call history in front of him and the master call maker at Faulk's Game Call Co, Keith began the art of creating cane calls. With the 2026 South Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers Call Competition being among his first competitions. The nature of creating authentic cane calls is a cumbersome process. Requiring the maker to harvest cane, dry it, then cut segments from the thinner and thicker parts of the cane in the hopes that some of the narrower segments will fit snug into the larger segments in order to create the shell of the call. For many natural reasons it is a difficult pursuit to master.
