Darce "Chick" Manning Major (1894-1974) Stuttgart, AR & Don Cahill (1941-2023) Morrilton, AR 5.25" long Single reed, diamond wood - Crisp Chick Majo - Don Cahill sticker on barrel An icon of modern duck calling, Major began producing calls for friends and hunters in the region. All from a shop out of his neighbors garage. The operation became a family affair with Major having won the World Duck Calling Championship in 1945, and his step daughter Pat Peacock, taking the same titles in 1955 & 1956, with a Champion of Champions win in 1960. A true accomplishment for the times considering the sport largely belonged to men. Dixie Mallard duck calls would co on to earn the family over 200 calling titles including 20 world titles. In 1975, Major's daughter Brenda, and her husband, Don Cahill, took over the family brand continuing the legacy of Major's calls.
