The E. Remington & Sons New Model revolver—frequently called the 1858 Remington based on its barrel patent date—was a famous six-shot, cap-and-ball percussion hand gun. Produced from 1861 to 1875, it served as a primary sidearm for the Union Army during the American Civil War.
