SHANREN (1626-1705) WROTE "INK LOTUS AND BIRDS", A LONG PAPER SCROLL OF FLOWERS AND BIRDS. <br>L:600cm (236.22in) W:37cm (14.57in)This ink flower-and-bird long scroll dates to the Qing Dynasty, with original floral-pattern silk brocade mounting, woven ribbon and jade fastener. The frontispiece bears imperial regular script title Transcend Mundane Dust and imperial palace collection seals. The painting depicts segmented ink lotus, water birds and swimming fish, rendered in spare, aloof brushwork with oddly simplified forms, representative of Bada Shanren??s freehand flower-and-bird style.
