DYNASTY WITH THREE BUDDHA OFFERINGS ON ITS BACK. <br>Diameter:4.2cm (1.65in) Weight:31g(0.07lb)Pure silver square-hole Buddhist offering coin of Northern Song Dynasty. The obverse carries running script "Chun Hua Yuan Bao" handwritten by Emperor Taizong, fluid and elegant. The reverse features fine relief of three mudra-seated Buddhas set on lotus and cloud scrolls. The silver surface is covered in mellow aged grey patina with scattered brown oxidation spots. Cast exclusively for royal temple worship, silver Chun Hua Buddha coins were rarely circulated among common people, used for temple offerings and imperial rewards.
