Dwight Long (1912–2001) was an acclaimed American adventurer, documentary filmmaker, and author best known for his historic solo sailing voyages and Academy Award-winning World War II cinematography. The Idle Hour was the beloved 32-foot wooden ketch that Dwight Long sailed solo around the world. This image depicks him being caught in the tradewinds off of Tahiti.
