Title: Impressionist River Landscape Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 15 x 11 inches (38.1 x 27.9 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Good overall condition with visible surface texture and brushwork consistent with the medium. The canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher and presented in a dark wood frame with gilt accents. Please review all photographs, including the reverse, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection. The reverse bears a paper label inscribed “BERNHEIM JEUNE & Cie – Experts près la Cour d’Appel – 25 Boulevard de la Madeleine”, with a handwritten reference to “Claude Monet.” The label is reported as found with the work and has not been independently authenticated. Visual Description: An atmospheric river landscape depicting a tranquil waterway enclosed by dense vegetation beneath a softly illuminated sky. Loose, broken brushwork in turquoise, blue, emerald, rose, lavender, and pale yellow creates reflections across the water and dissolves the surrounding foliage into shifting passages of color and light. The composition emphasizes atmosphere and reflection rather than precise detail, recalling the plein-air landscape tradition of French Impressionism.
