My husband bought Brownie for me 3 years ago, with his height 14.0 HH. Unfortunately, shortly after we brought him home, I had a major surgery with a lengthy rehab so there was little working time spent with him for the first couple of years. However, during that time he and I developed a nice friendship. In the past year we have worked with him in the arena, learning Trail In-Hand with a variety of obstacles and “toys,” in addition to a refresher course of his saddle skills both through arena practice and being ridden through obstacles. He will walk up to mounting block. has been rode on trails and past owner said they used him to gather cows. The ideal person for Brownie would be someone with intermediate riding and horse skills. Brownie is a horse that gets confidence from his rider and I believe he would take advantage of a novice. I would not recommend him for an inexperienced youngster, although he would probably be OK for a leadline horse. He is great for the farrier and had teeth done last fall.
