traditional molcajete with a tejolote (Mexican volcanic basalt mortar and pestle) is an ancestral three-legged stone tool used since pre-Hispanic times to grind spices and prepare fresh salsas or guacamoles. Hand-carved from porous basalt volcanic rock, which provides a rough, abrasive surface ideal for crushing ingredients. Includes the bowl (molcajete) supported by three legs and the handheld grinding stone (tejolote). Measures approximately 6.5 dia x 4.25h.
