Curtain Rod Size = Overlap + Window Size + Overlap (The recommended overlap is at least 2-6 inches for panels to stack on each side, it depends on the panels thickness), so a right curtain rod should be 4-12 inches longer than your window size. If your window is 36 inches, your curtain rod should be 16-60 inches. Adjustable Curtain Rods with Brackets This black curtain rod features an upgraded telescoping sectional construction, you can freely adjust the size you want by decreasing the number of fixed rods or adjusting the inner rod. This curtain rod is adjustable from 32 to 88 inches. 16 to 88 is the size of the curtain rod, not the window size.
