The 1913-S $5 Gold Indian is a notable branch-mint issue from the Indian Head Half Eagle series (1908–1929), designed by Bela Lyon Pratt. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, it features Pratt’s distinctive incuse (sunken) design, with the Native American chief on the obverse and the eagle on the reverse recessed into the coin’s surface.
