The 1901 $5 Gold Liberty coin is part of the Liberty Head Half Eagle series (1839–1908), designed by Christian Gobrecht. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, adorned with a coronet inscribed “LIBERTY” and surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse showcases a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, with the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and inscriptions of “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the denomination “FIVE D.”
