Vintage Military Upright Trunk

Vintage upright storage trunk featuring a wood frame with metal corner reinforcements, steel hardware, and a well-developed aged patina that reflects decades of use. Measuring approximately 30.5" long x 17.75" deep x 12.5" tall, this trunk is believed to have been manufactured as an upright trunk, with side-mounted carrying handles allowing it to be transported and stored vertically. According to the estate, the original owner received the trunk from the U.S. Navy upon enrollment; however, no military markings or documentation were found to independently verify this history. The trunk retains its original locking mechanism, though no key is included. All exterior latches and hooks remain functional, and both original leather or composition carrying handles—one on the right side and one on the front—are intact and in good condition. The interior retains its original paper lining, which exhibits staining, bubbling, and tears consistent with age. The interior right-side lid hinge is broken, and the left interior hinge is missing, requiring repair if the trunk is to be used regularly.
