An exceptional antique 19th-century American Empire or Classical style mahogany shaving stand, also known as a gentleman's dressing stand. The piece features an adjustable oval swing mirror supported by a elegantly curved horseshoe yoke frame terminating in a carved foliate pedestal. The compact upper cabinet is designed with gadrooned/rope-carved borders, two central drawers with brass pulls, flanking side cabinets with keyholes, and a blind dove-tailed construction profile. The entire assembly is raised on a dramatic, thick spiral-twist carved central column terminating in a tripod base with cabriole legs and detailed claw-and-ball feet 68 tall, missing swan element.
