Federal Sideboard, Southern, Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer over Poplar and Heart Pine, circa 1815–1830 A well-proportioned Federal-period sideboard in the Southern backcountry tradition, its serpentine-front case centered by a projecting bowed section flanked by straight-fronted ends. The top is figured mahogany with a molded edge, laid over a case veneered throughout in book-matched crotch mahogany, the drawer fronts and door panels displaying strong flame and fiddleback figure selected for symmetry. The bowed center section houses a shallow, keyed drawer above a pair of doors; each flanking end section has a single cockbeaded drawer over a paneled cabinet door. Minor veneer loss.
