Antique rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid, metal corner reinforcements, side carrying handles and a front lock plate. The interior includes small divided sections along the back, suggesting use as a document, valuables or general storage box. The box has a dark aged finish with pronounced wood grain and an attractive primitive appearance. Estimated late 19th to early 20th century. Measures 9 inches high x 15 inches wide x 9 inches deep. Shows heavy wear appropriate for age, including scratches, staining, finish loss, discoloration, surface residue, oxidation to the metal hardware and age-related separation. The key is present, but operation of the lock has not been verified. Interior has dark staining and should be inspected closely.
