7 1/4" by 9 1/2" wide, 14 1/8" tall. Tim Holmes (Born 1955) is active/lives in Montana. Tim Holmes is known for Sculptor and painter- figure, portrait. Tim Holmes became the first American artist ever invited to give a solo exhibit at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, the world's largest art museum where three of his sculptures remain on permanent exhibit. His work has gained notice also among some of the world's peacemakers, from the Chinese dissident students of Tiananmen Square to the Physicians for Social Responsibility. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Jimmy Carter, President Vaclav Havel, and Coretta Scott King are among Holmes' best-known collectors. Holmes was recently commissioned to create the "United Nations Millennium Peace Prize for Women" by the U.N. Development Fund for Women. The first six prizes were awarded to women around the world in 2001. He has created sculpture for a number of other international projects including the South African bid for the 2004 Olympics. Holmes is primarily known for his sculpture focusing on the human form using gesture as expression of greater human themes.
