A marvelous example of traditional Maori woodcarving from New Zealand. The large freestanding Tekoteko (ancestral guardian) figure is sculpted from a single piece of quality native timber, likely Matai wood, with inlaid Paua shell eyes. In excellent vintage condition with no breaks or repairs, the original finish is rich and superb. A high-quality example of vintage New Zealand tribal art, perfect for a collection of Pacific carvings or as a standalone decor piece. Dimensions: Tekoteko is 14.75" H x 3.75" W x 3.75" D, weighs 2 pounds 9 oz. Bonus items: A carved wooden fish, a ceramic tiki cup, and a tropical flower arrangement in a ceramic coconut planter.
