The 1900 $5 Gold Liberty coin is a distinguished example of the Liberty Head Half Eagle series (1839–1908), minted at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, it features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse, adorned with a coronet inscribed “LIBERTY” and surrounded by thirteen stars, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, with the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
