Along with Bobby Orr and Eddie Shore, Harvey probably had the greatest impact of any player at that position. His dramatic rushes and superior defensive work allowed him to dominate the game. In a franchise deep in heroes, Harvey gained an immortal place in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. Harvey's reasons for leaving the NHL came about due to his being blacklisted after an attempted formation of a players' association.
